2013 Goals

These days, everything seems to be happening and NOT happening at the same time. I can go from completely happy to out-of-my-mind unsatisfied with life in a matter of minutes. "What am I doing" and "Where am I going" are often the unanswered questions floating around in the back of my mind.

And right now, I'm choosing to blame it on the new year...and these dreary January days, and this incessant rain [WILL IT EVER STOP?!].

While the new year and I aren't presently friends, being able to take a look at my new year goals past was a such God-send. Every now and again, I need to remind myself that I am accomplishing things, I am learning, I am improving myself, and I am doing things that I enjoy no matter how small.

After some brainstorming and looking at what I was able to check off of last year's list, I constructed a new list of what I want to do in 2013! Some of my specific, attainable goals are a continuation of semi-accomplished goals from last year, while others are completely new. But more importantly, I am passionate and excited about each and every one of them! With a healthy dose of confidence and patience, I know I'll be able to check them off in the months ahead :)

Food Goals
  • Use the following items in a dessert: Pomegranate, cherries, sweet potato, tea
  • Make the following items homemade: Granola bars, bread bowls, pita bread, ice cream sandwiches, jam or preserves, nut butter, crackers
  • Make the following fun and/or challenging foods: Regular croissants, French or Sourdough bread, cake roll, fritters, dessert pizza
  • Make a gluten-free baked good
  • Perfect the remaining (blueberry) pancake methods: self-rising flour, yeast, "overnight", yogurt multi-grain (redo), corn, lemon...other suggestions?
  • Continue the RVA breakfast search! - This is a repeat goal, mainly because I need an excuse to make Boyfriend try new places with me ;)
  • Try poached eggs (Eggs Benedict?) and fried eggs (over-easy/medium) for the first time!

Personal Development Goals

And a goal for you all: Figure out how to make it stop raining. Soon :)

  1. I am willing to help with any of your food goals!

I schedule blood donations around my racing schedule (which looks really similar to yours) if you'd ever like to tag along! I usually get frozen yogurt or a cupcake after as a reward :)

  2. 1. I tried poached eggs for the first time last year and all I have to say is that I'm distraught it took me so long!
    2. Sourdough is absolutely on my list too! Do you plan on making your own starter?
    3. I would LOVE to hear what you learn about food-related volunteer opportunities!

    1. I'm nervous to try them, but I think its going to be a good thing :) And I think I'm going to make my own starter...hopefully I'll be better at keeping it alive than I was with my basil plant! I'll keep you updated on the volunteering!

      Thanks for stopping by, Anne!!!
