Sweet Start: July Recap

I woke up this morning and---what do'ya know?---it's the first Monday of AUGUST. It sure was busy but I loved July, which explains why it went even more quickly than June. July felt exactly as it should: like summer, with time outside and on the water, visiting friends and family, road trips and tons of fresh produce.

RUN (& recovery) - My second round of physical therapy visits AND marathon training started in July. I'm actually happy these both occurred at the same time because I think it helped enforce the stretching/strengthening aspect of my training from the get-go. I'm continuing to be optimistic but attentive to my body as I continue to build my fitness level back up. Besides the initial running paranoia aches and pains, my feet and legs have felt strong and happy to be at it again! As marathon training progresses, I want to try to keep Monday and Tuesday mornings reserved for foot/ankle mobility exercises and knee/core strengthening.

SAVE (budget) - I went on a shopping spree this month. Nordstrom's and J. Crew are now a few dollars richer...It's hard to resist a good sale, especially when I've been holding myself back from frivolous spending for the last few months. July was the second full month of having a new roommate, and I think Garland and I have gotten in a good grocery shopping rhythm as far as who pays when and "our staples". This month, although not a typical one (we've been in-and-out of town every weekend!), I've been trying to find a balance between not wasting food and buying/making enough. Sure, PT has thrown off my original planning budget some. Overall, though, I'm comfortable with where I'm at spending-wise.

IMPROVE (emphasis on reading & relationships) - I'm thisclose to finishing The Invention of Wings, and next up is You Before Me OR Once a Runner, if Garland convinces me. I was happy to spend a little time at home and to also see Cherie up in DC again this month! Also, HI TO CHRISTINE IN THAILAND! From a few emails and pictures posted online, it sounds like she's staying strong and doing good :)

GIVE (time, money, energy) - Meep. There's not much on this front to report on this month...I guess I could argue I gave plenty of time and money to family and friends this month, but I think that'd be rude. FREE LOVE, PEOPLE.

BLOG (more homemade snacks, quality/quantity, reno) - I really enjoyed July and as a result, I didn't post a lot. And what I did post had to do with running...I hope most of you aren't just popping in for recipes nowadays because that's not what I'm giving you ;) Oh well! What I am excited about is working with one of my sorority sisters to finally get this blog reno done. We're still in the very early planning stages, but I know it's going to be super pretty :)

What goals did you accomplish or make progress in during July?
