Y'all, I think I need a vacation. From life.
My current blogging solution is to start a new [lazy] weekly series: SNEAK EATS, a weekly post where I share some snippets of what I've been eating and making and doing, plus highlights of what I may be sharing with you in the upcoming weeks. I'm going to be honest with you, it's possible this series will end up where my first very series, Favorite Foods Friday, landed: forgotten in two months. Nothing ventured, nothing gained...so here we go.
1 -- Looks like a Christmas-themed soup, right? I tried to make spinach ravioli with wonton wrappers on Monday night, something I was REALLY excited about. The directions on the actual container said to bake them, but I wanted to boil them like real pasta (and like The Pioneer Woman does here!). Bad news: They feel apart as soon as I scooped them out of the boiling water. Good news: It still tasted delicious once I added some of my homemade tomato soup/sauce!
2 -- The only gift suggestion Boyfriend could come up with for me to give him was homemade Snickers bars, and to attempt to make homemade Twix too. Snickers are made...and I've also put together some other(non-food) items for him too. Why are boys so difficult to shop for?
3 -- My department head brought in Daylight Donuts for us yesterday. I've had such good intentions this week, but I swear December is the hardest month of the year to try to be healthy. It's a huge mental struggle between what I want, what I actually need, and then not wanting to offend others. Yes, I ate a donut.
4 -- On Tuesday, we had an office potluck, complete with awesome ham biscuits, potato casserole, broccoli casserole, meatballs, cheeseburger dip, pasta salad, redneck caviar, and MORE. I love the excitement of potlucks! You can tell a lot about a person by what they bring and how they talk about it :)
5 -- Guess where I'll be on December 26th? On my way to Puerto Rico!!! And look at the weather...as long as its warm, I don't care about a chance of some rain ;)
6 -- I bought a small bunch of these strange vegetables at the farmers market on Saturday. I've never seen or eaten kohlrabi before, but that's not stopping me from cooking some up for dinner tonight...Hooray for impulse buys and kitchen adventures!
7 -- I graduated Seal Team PT's basic fitness class last Friday! This week is my first as an actual "member". While a few of the issues I mentioned in this post are still present, I can feel my body & mind slowly adjusting to this fitness program; and I'm excited to be continuing with it! I'm going to need some motivation to stay fit during the impending dead of winter.

Agh, you're right, boys ARE hard to shop for! At least yours likes baked goods. Mine doesn't even really go for that.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on graduating! I'm proud of you! :-)
I don't know how you put up with a boy that doesn't love baked goods! ;) Thanks, Lindsey!
